Develop an App
WhatsApp, Instagram, Snapchat, and Tik Tok are only a handful of apps compared to the millions of apps that exist online. The above-mentioned are only a few of the market leaders in the mobile application industry. The creators of these apps have ultimately become extremely wealthy and, eventually, billionaires. Tech giants like Google, Microsoft, and Facebook tend to purchase the ownership and rights of apps if they see it as a threat to them in the future or to boost their revenue streams.
Many years ago, I read an article of a young self-taught coder who developed a mobile app bought by a tech giant for approximately $50 million. He has been on vacation ever since. His family and he have been traveling the world and going places he never thought he would be able to see. All of this became possible when he sacrificed his time for money and early retirement. To launch your own app, you have two choices available for you: teach yourself to write code or hire a developer to write the app for you. The latter being quite expensive! Code can be self-taught as there are many learning resources available for you online. If you got a lot of money in your pocket, you'll probably hire a developer. Or, you can write the app yourself. Below is a glimpse of what languages some mobile apps use:
Instagram - Python
Tik Tok - Java
Snapchat - Python, Cocoa Touch, PHP, JavaScript, Ruby, and Objective C for IOS
Facebook - PHP and C++
Candy Crush - Java
Minecraft - Java
Calculator - C++
WhatsApp - Erlang
From what you can read above, I know what you're thinking of. The most common language mentioned is Python and Java. In my personal experience, they're the best to get started with. Python is the answer if you're looking to develop an app that requires analyzing data and artificial intelligence. If you're looking to build large-scale apps, gaming, and reproduce the same code to many different platforms, Java is the answer.
Becoming a professional developer does not mean that you have to attend the best college to obtain a degree in computer science or IT. There is a difference between schooling and education. Millionaires have degrees. Billionaires employ degrees. To create the next best app, let your imagination run wild, write the app, launch it, and rigorously advertise it until it becomes a need to the consumer.
Become a Developer
Today we live in a world where everything is automated and convenient at the tip of our fingers. When the first practical telephone was invented in 1876 by Alexander Graham Bell, making a long-distance or an international call was not possible at the time. Today, because of the advancement of technology and code, we can communicate to the astronauts in space or on the moon. Many tech giant companies were started by those who had the vision to make life easier for the consumer by getting into the world of coding.
Becoming a developer for a tech company or the government is undoubtedly a lucrative career. These entities generally do not look for those that only have diplomas or degrees in computer science, but those who can pass their test or solve their problems. Teaching yourself to code is like being a sportsman. You don't have to study to become a professional athlete. All it takes is hard work, blood, sweat, and tears. This is similar to learning code. If your goal is to work for Google or Facebook one day but you don't have the funding to enroll in a college, teach yourself. There are numerous accredited tests and assessments online that will certify you as a developer. These giants keep track of your progress.
Writing code is extremely fun! I'm a coder myself. I taught myself Java, Python and got to know Kali Linux. I wrote my first app in Java using the Android Studio SDK. If you can develop and write a website, app, or program that will change lives or make the consumer addicted to it, you'll become extremely wealthy soon.
Change lives or feed the addiction!
Blogging
Blogging is taking the world wide web by storm as it provides guidance and sometimes solutions for those who seek advice and answers. The topics of blogging can range from fitness, business, gaming, tech, finance, astronomy, engineering, etc. It has proven that it can provide a very profitable business over the years for the only things you need are a laptop, internet connection, and consistency. Based on my research, I got to know a few bloggers that are making six figures a month. This is because of their quality content and their consistency in uploading the content, affiliate marketing, being involved in their online community, and engaging in advertising with other companies or bloggers.
Last year, I read an article about a 17-year-old tech blogger who started his blog at this age. By the time he turned 19, he decided not to enroll in college because he was already making six figures. His secret was producing quality content about tech and gaming by uploading 20 blog posts per month. By the 10th month, he earned his first six-figure income. This is rather impressive for a teenager to earn this amount of money by writing about what he enjoys doing and reading. If you want to get started in blogging, quality and consistency are of utmost importance. This is how you'll gain traffic to your website and also through social media pages.
If you are not a fan of writing, it's not the end of the world. If you're earning an income as a 9-5, you can always hire freelance writers to produce content for you. However, this will be a tough journey ahead of the success of your blog. The consistency of your blog depends on how often they provide you with content. It'll also become expensive. Another avenue you can take is to write the blog posts yourself and hire an editor. Viola! Where there is a will there is a way!
Blogging will allow you to not only place ads on your website and affiliate marketing, but you can also create and sell your very own digital products. My fiction novel - Britton Bohnson and the Offsprings Blood, is an example thereof. Identify what you enjoy doing and reading the most, and you'll find your niche market.
Online Teaching
The Covid-19 pandemic has and is still putting a lot of strain on businesses, schools, sporting events, and social activities. Air travel has severely been restricted by many airline companies. Some countries have been blocked from entering other countries as they are deemed a high risk of rapid transmissions. For those who wish to work abroad for greener pastures, the economic effect of the virus is making it nearly impossible for them to do so. Some of those that have been working abroad have been forced to repatriate to their home countries when the coronavirus came into existence.
Businesses were forced to let their employees work from home, sporting events got canceled and governments had no choice to shut down schools. However, online teaching didn't stop. In fact, online teachers saw an increase in their blog traffic or vlogging views. YouTube is a perfect platform to do online teaching that will automatically send your viewers to your blog. Traffic on both sides will undoubtedly multiply. Having your own blog with paid courses on it guarantees a lovely income along with ads and affiliate marketing.
English is the language of business and is one of the most taught subjects in the world. Before Covid-19 came about, English teachers and TEFL qualified teachers were in high demand by non-English speaking countries. They still are, but the pandemic is causing the roadblock. On YouTube, you can host live videos which you can couple with the courses on your blog. Another subject that will definitely provide you with a steady income is mathematics. If you're able to dumb down a physics formula for your viewers to understand, then you're on the correct path. Learners and students visit the internet searching for answers, methods, and a better understanding of the problem or topic they are faced with.
If you want to get started with online teaching for all ages, you can start by doing the following:
Choose your preferred topic
Create a syllabus and courses
Create a blog
Buy a domain
Create a YouTube channel, and
Start teaching!
If you don't start building a future for yourself, someone will hire you to build theirs.
Online Digital Store
Online stores are a multi-billion dollar industry that is taking the world by storm. The biggest online stores include Walmart, Amazon, Wish, Alibaba, and Aliexpress. Opening your own online store requires many aspects before your store goes live. You will need the product(s), the website, the domain, the logistics and so much more. If this sounds like too much to do before the money starts rolling in, tough luck - with effort comes reward. On the other hand, you can start a dropshipping business. The concept of this is very simple. A customer buys an item on your website, you buy it from the supplier and have them ship it directly to the customer. You won't physically see or deliver the product. I like to call this a middleman business.
Not all products sold online can be touched. We call these digital products. I am a digital entrepreneur as well. In 2020, I published a dystopian fiction novel titled Britton Bohnson and the Offsprings Blood which is available on Amazon. Today, I'm the proud owner and author of a blog and a novel. There are many digital products you can choose from to get started. Below are just a few mentioned:
Wallpapers
Fonts
E-Courses
Books
Sound effects
Templates
Self-publishing guides
Photos
Art
Lifestyle and fitness subscription videos
Selling digital products can earn you quite a handsome amount of money if you're marketing and advertising are done correctly. The benefits of selling digital products are that you'll have an infinite amount of stock, low start-up costs, passive income, flexibility, and more control over your items as to how you distribute them. You can make $1 000 000 by using a laptop, an internet connection, and creativity.
Vlogging
Businesses are investing a lot of money into social media influencers and bloggers to advertise their products and services. They've learned that these people have a great influence on the internet and a huge impact on the market. Coca-Cola lost billions of dollars when Cristiano Ronaldo swopped out a bottle of coke for a bottle of water during a post-match conference in 2021. Businesses are drifting away from traditional advertising such as newspapers and magazines. In other words, print advertising. Digital advertising reaches far more consumers than the old-fashioned way.
Before video blogging (vlogging) came into play, we relied on the traditional blogging - text. Websites like YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and Snap Chat, etc. gave rise to the expansion of vlogging. A new million-dollar industry was created. Vlogging is integrated and monetized with paid sponsorships, ads, affiliate marketing, and sometimes by the number of views. Currently, YouTube is the best platform to monetize your vlogging. To run ads on your channel, you would need a minimum of 1000 subscribers and 4000 watch hours to qualify. Consistency and the quality of your content are key factors to growing your channel.
Vlogging not only takes place on websites like YouTube but also on traditional blogging websites. Creating and uploading videos to your blog will also boost your traffic not only on the blog but on the other platforms as well. A perfect strategy to integrate all your platforms will work hand-in-hand to build traffic for each other. It'll take time to start monetizing your vlogging, but, before you know it, your vlogging will reach thousands of loyal subscribers and viewers.
Take your time to research a niche market for you and then you can make a decision. Devise a plan for your niche as to what content will be posted on which platform.
Write a Novel Series
Statistically, books are one of the most sold items in the world for many centuries. It ranges from educational, social, art and fictional, etc. To date, the Bible is the most sold book globally. Harry Potter and The Hunger Games are successful novel series that were turned into movies. The authors, actors, and other personnel involved received a hefty payday. Of course, the authors raked in the most money - J.K Rowling and Suzanne Collins respectively.
The internet made it easier for first-time authors to publish their own work online instead of relying on publishers. Self-publishing a novel series requires extensive marketing from your end, however, you keep almost 90% of the proceeds of your novels. As mentioned earlier, I self-published a dystopian fiction novel, but, I'm not done yet. There are more to come!
Film companies and movie producers are more likely to turn a novel series into a film instead of one book. Yes, they do convert one book into a movie. However, the chances of earning six figures are greater when you have a novel series. Get your mind to work and start writing. Your thoughts and ideas will come along as you write.
Supplier
Every business, big or small, needs products and equipment to function. A restaurant cannot operate without food, tables, chairs, cutlery, crockery, etc. A construction contractor needs building materials and supplies to carry out their tasks. To meet the demand, the supply needs to be on par. One of the basic laws in economics is that the greater the demand, the greater the supply. Businesses are always looking to get their supply for the best price possible. To compete with a list of potential suppliers, you'd have to do extensive research, make hundreds of calls and browse the internet as thoroughly as possible.
There are many niche products one can choose from to keep businesses supplied. In my opinion, the best products to supply are those that run out quickly and that are constantly being used. For example, supplying sauces and spices to restaurants. The kitchen needs these items to prepare the food and the waiters need to serve it with the food. If you can manage to become a supplier for one restaurant, you can continue to lock the others. Before you know it, you'll be supplying many restaurants with sauces and spices. Meet their demand at a wonderful price, and you'll get closer to the financial freedom you desire.
